Darren, I still can’t believe that I am writing this and that you are gone. I really miss you and I miss our chats. I could always rely on you for good sense and good humour, and I always felt better for having spent time with you. You had such a gift for talking to people and understanding how to support them – it made you so fantastic at your job and such a pleasure to be around. You were the heart and soul of our team. I am devastated that you didn’t get more time because you really, really deserved more time. One thing that comforts me though is that you lived a full, happy life with your wonderful family who you adored and who you quite rightly always put first. You got your priorities in life absolutely right, Darren – you knew that your family and looking after people mattered more than anything else. I will carry that lesson with me for ever.
