Darren, you were my first manager here at the University, you got me my first job and now look where I am! (you also couldn't get rid of me as I followed you back to TLSE). You always believed in me and I wouldn't be where I am now without you and your support. Thank you so much for that. As your SE intern, we shared that little office in The Mill for almost a year - you got all the gossip from my life (whether you wanted it or not), you would ask how my dates went, how my family were, how my dogs were, we would discuss TV and holidays. We would share our love for spreadsheets and our support for Manchester United. You also dealt with me when I was sad or moody (sorry for this) - but you would always be able to make me laugh and put a smile on my face. I would love hearing all about Claire and the boys, and seeing photos of you all from trips away and holidays. I remember trying to persuade you to let them get a puppy - I'm so glad that you gave in and experienced family life with a doggy. You became my 'work Dad' - you took me under your wing in my first proper job after Uni and looked after me (your constant dad jokes really helped give you this title) After working as your intern, your care and support didn't stop. At the beginning of my role in TLSE you always checked in with me, answered my questions, met with me to go through issues and looked after me whilst I was without a line manager - even though you already had enough on your plate. Thank you for this. I will never stop appreciating everything you've done for me. I also have one of your multiple 'I <3 spreadsheets' mugs that was left behind in The Mill a couple of years ago - it became my work mug because you know I also love spreadsheets. I'm so glad that I have it as my little memory of you on my desk. Thanks so much for everything, Abbi Crawford <3
