There's so much I want to write Darren - from our very first conversations in April 2019 when I was moving to Engineering and I broached the idea of you becoming our new School T&L Manager. I think the words you used were 'you had me at hello'! And what a journey we went on from there - your constant support, calmness, humour and all round wonderfulness really made our School teams in Engineering and Natural Sciences something special and you gave your all in supporting me, your Managers and all in the team.
I will always remember you with a smile and for the things we laughed about when the challenges were all around - your cup of tea with a teaspoon full of milk (and how I ribbed you for that), your album of the week making us all listen to Def Leppard when we went into lockdown, and the good humour you brought each week when we had all moved on line and were navigating our way through a different way of working.
I will also never forget what you put front and centre before anything else, which was Claire and your beautiful boys - always talking about them, telling us your plans and demonstrating what a fabulous husband and dad you were. You had it absolutely right Darren, there is nothing more important.
I miss you immensely - I will miss our chats, our laughs, our collective approach to work and our friendship - and will make sure that we continue to celebrate the wonderful person that you were.
